Australian shares are expected to open slightly higher following cautiously optimistic gains on Wall Street overnight.

ASX futures had risen 13 points (+0.2pc) to 6,628, by 7:00am AEDT.

The Australian dollar was marginally weaker (-0.3pc) at 77.45 US cents, as the greenback recovered some of its recent losses.
